Welcome to the 2025-2026 class of Virginia Humanities K-12 Educator Fellows!
Virginia Humanities announced four new recipients of its K-12 Educator Fellowship, designed to support educators from around the Commonwealth who are committed to teaching the humanities for primary and secondary school students.
Throughout the rest of the year, they will meet, learn, and work together to create learning experiences that will be shared on this website, a free resource accessible to educators everywhere. Fellows receive a stipend of $4,000, supplies for their classroom (up to $180), and two relevant books needed for research (up to $60).
“Excellent experience that developed my understanding and appreciation for the state of Virginia along with learning new techniques and resources to use the classroom.”
Alexander Long, a member of the 2024-25 cohort who teaches in Southwest Virginia
This year’s cohort is composed of educators from three of the eight Superintendent’s Regions: Central Virginia (Region 1); Southwest (Region 7); and Southside (Region 8). Their areas of interest include: the American Revolution, the Gilded Age, school desegregation, and Virginia’s historical figures.
